Introduction

Moveware operates successfully on a wide array of network infrastructures. We can assist in determining the adequacy of existing hardware and communications. The final specification will depend on a number of factors including other required functions of the Server, PCs and network. Many of our clients are increasingly deciding to operate in a Terminal Server environment. This may have the added benefits of reducing administration costs and allowing remote branches and users to log in remotely over WAN communications of sufficient bandwith. As a guide the suggested minimum hardware specifications are:-

Server Hardware

Small Sites (1-9 Users)
  • Windows Small Business Server™ 2003
  • Pentium IV processor (or equivalent) @ 2.0GHz or better
  • 2 GB RAM, and additional 10MB for each user
  • Hard disk with at least 10GB free
  • 16-bit colour, 1024x768 screen resolution
  • Windows-compatible printer.
Medium Sites (10-20 Users)
  • Windows Server™ 2003 Standard Edition
  • Pentium IV processor (or equivalent) @ 2.0GHz or better
  • 4 GB RAM, and additional 10MB for each user
  • Hard disk with at least 10GB free
  • 16-bit colour, 1024x768 screen resolution
  • Windows-compatible printer.
Medium Sites with Terminal Services (10-29 Users)
  • Windows Server™ 2003 Standard Edition running Windows Terminal Server
  • Pentium IV processor (or equivalent) @ 2.0GHz or better
  • 4 GB RAM, and additional 20MB for each user
  • Hard disk with at least 10GB free
  • 16-bit colour, 1024x768 screen resolution
  • Windows-compatible printer.
Large Sites with Terminal Services (30+ Users)
  • Windows Server™ 2008 Standard Edition running Windows Terminal Server
  • Pentium IV processor (or equivalent) @ 2.0GHz or better
  • 8 GB RAM, and additional 20MB for each user
  • Hard disk with at least 20GB free
  • 16-bit colour, 1024x768 screen resolution
  • Windows-compatible printer.

Client Workstations

Clients running via TCP
  • Windows XP
  • Pentium IV processor (or equivalent) @ 1.0GHz or better
  • 512MB RAM
  • Hard disk with at least 2GB free
  • 16-bit colour, 1024x768 screen resolution.
Client Hardware for Terminal Services
  • Windows XP running Windows Remote Desktop
  • Pentium III processor (or equivalent) @ 1.0GHz or better
  • 2GB RAM
  • Hard disk with at least 10GB free
  • 16-bit colour, 1024x768 screen resolution.

Note: The above specifications are a minimum only. Moveware is compatible with Microsoft Windows Server™ 2008 editions (32 and 64 bit), Microsoft Windows Vista™ Business (32 and 64 bit) and or above and Microsoft Windows 7™ Professional or above (32 and 64 bit).

Network

Minimum 100BaseT Ethernet network that supports TCP/IP networking protocols.

Remote Access

In order for Moveware to install, maintain and support a company’s system, a broadband Internet connection to the Moveware Database Server is required. A Windows user account with at least local Administrator access on the server and preferably Domain Administrator Access (if applicable) is required to correctly install Moveware. This is also required to install, maintain and support the Web Services features of Moveware. Reliable, on demand remote access is also needed, for example Microsoft Terminal Server or Windows Remote Desktop connection.

These products are to be supplied by Customer at its expense.

Backups

To facilitate effective backups, a CD backup, a tape backup or a removable drive solution such as an external USB drive is recommended.

As part of the implementation, Moveware sets up a scheduled backup of the running database that can be scheduled as required and also copied to another location on the company network.

Printing

Moveware prints to virtually any windows printer. It allows print options to be customized for each user, so that different print jobs can be sent to different printers. We recommend the use of network printers rather than printers attached to client PCs. For remote printing we recommend using IP printing.

As part of the implementation Moveware installs its own PDF generator called Moveware PDF. This is a licensed version of the popular CutePDF software PDF printer.

  • Microsoft Excel 2003 or higher

MoveSurvey

MoveSurvey is a household and commercial surveying application designed to run on a Windows based Tablet PC. It can run as a completely integrated product with Moveware or as a standalone product for companies with different operating system.The current version of MoveSurvey is version 1, with MoveSurvey version 2 due for release in November 2010. The hardware requirements for both versions of MoveSurvey are:

  • Any PC capable of running Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Business and above, Windows 7 Home Edition and above
  • Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 600
  • Minimum of 10 megabytes free disk space free
  • 10/100 Ethernet connection
  • Wireless B/G/N network connection

Although not essential, we also recommend the following additional hardware options to take full advantage of the features of MoveSurvey:

  • Wireless Internet connection (available through telecommunications service providers) and a router supporting VPNs allowing job information to be synchronised remotely
  • Built in Camera capable of still pictures and video
  • Portable document printer for printing quotes and inventory on site.

MoveCrew

MoveCrew is designed specifically for the Removalist Packing and Moving Team. It allows the crew to wirelessly send and receive job information while on the road. It has a comprehensive inventory module to capture electronic inventories complete with discrepancies, numbering and comments which can be emailed or printed in the home. MoveCrew is designed to run on a Windows based Tablet PC and can run as a completely integrated product with Moveware or as a standalone product for companies with a different operating system.The hardware requirements for MoveCrew are:

  • Any PC capable of running Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Business and above, Windows 7 Professional and above or Windows 7 Home Edition and above
  • Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 600
  • Minimum of 10 megabytes free disk space free
  • Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Business and above, Windows 7 Professional and above
  • 10/100 Ethernet connection
  • Wireless B/G Network Connection.

PocketMove

Pocket Move is a handheld estimation system that is fully compatible with Moveware. It runs on Microsoft Pocket PC powered devices such as the HP IPaq or Dell Axiom,as well as Smart Phones running Windows Mobile. The Hardware requirements for PocketMove are:

  • Windows PocketPC 2003, Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 (not compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5)
  • Screen resolution of 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high (cannot be other way around)
  • 64Mb of internal memory or greater (not including add on memory cards)
  • Microsoft Active Sync (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Centre (Windows Vista or Windows 7) – usually provided with device but can be downloaded from Microsoft.
